| Got this thing about love in a chain letter... you might like it, you might not but I think it's rather poignant.
Picture this... Did you know one of the Seven Wonders of the world was created for a girl, from the love of a man? Its true, The Hanging Gardens. King Nebuchadnezzar, considered to be the most important ruler in his dynasty, built the hanging gardens for his homesick wife. Apparently Babylon was merely desert, and therefore very plain in the eyes of someone such as Amyitis, who was daughter of the king of Medes. Amyitis and Nebuchadnezzar married to create an alliance between the two nations. Media(Amyitis's homeland) was noveled for its green, rugged and mountainous region and she found the flat, sun-baked terrain of Mesopotamia depressing. So out of the love this man felt in his heart (And his love for building) He defied nature, breaking natural law, by not only creating a lush enviroment in the middle of the desert, but by creating an actual hanging garden, in which the plants were suspended over the heads of observers on terraces, they draped over the terraced walls. Arches were underneath these terraces. The brilliantly colored trees and flowers that dangled from the walls created a lush and magical environment. The entire structure measured 400 feet by 400 feet, including fourteen vaulted rooms and underground crypts. The irrigation system is still wondered upon as to how exactly he managed to keep the entire structure saturated enough to support the fertile life. It never rained in Babylon, so how did they find a constant irrigation system? Some are to believe it was a chain pulley system, which brought the water up from the resovior at the bottom. The hanging gardens lasted through time all the way to Alexander The Great, and it was all for the love of a woman. The best way Ive heard his rationale is "impulse deriving from the love of a woman", and it was all done, without her even asking.
So with that in mind, if playing gently, acknowledging her as your girlfriend, and remembering her birthday is alot to live up to, then maybe the world is struggling for reason more now than ever.
Oh, and as far as your friends go, think now about your pride compared to his. If your embarassed to kiss her in front of your friends, she SHOULD leave your sorry ass, ol' King N errected a wonder of the world for a single woman in front of all his people, and do you think anyone at any point considered calling him "whipped"?
Theres a difference between being whipped and being devoted. Some guys just realize what they have while they have it, and if thats being whipped, then I suppose there truly is no hope. I've been through alot, I've seen alot of things, and I've sure as hell had alot of time to think about it. So heres a little hint that just might come in useful someday: dont let your pride make your decisions for you, because when your buddies are drinking at the bar alone with their pride, you could be at home with your beautiful wife and kids, the only difference is you realized putting your pride into your family instead of your ability to say funny shit in front of your friends. Life isnt like high school and you'll spend your life alone until you realize that.
>>If I believed in Reincarnation, I might think that I was King N in another life, because that sounds entirely like something I would do for the woman I love... and rock on to the guy who wrote this... |
